About this test

The milk hormone. Raised levels cause irregular periods, milk discharge and, in men, low sex drive; some medicines raise it too.

Before your test

• •Give the sample in the morning, rested, before breakfast if possible.
• •Carry on taking your regular medicines unless your doctor has said otherwise.
• •Bring the doctor's prescription if you have one — it helps the lab file the report to them.
