About this test

The hormone that drives the ovaries and testes. It is high when they are failing and low when the pituitary is not asking. Timed to the cycle in women.

Before your test

• •For women, day 2 or 3 of the period unless the doctor says otherwise.
• •Carry on taking your regular medicines unless your doctor has said otherwise.
• •Bring the doctor's prescription if you have one — it helps the lab file the report to them.
