Complete Blood Count (CBC)

About this test

The commonest blood test there is. It counts your red cells (which carry oxygen), white cells (which fight infection) and platelets (which stop bleeding), and measures haemoglobin — low haemoglobin is anaemia. Doctors ask for it when you are tired, feverish or pale, and as a general check.

Before your test
